St. Louis, MO. December 14, 2009 - Oaktree Products, Inc. a leading multi-line distributor of audiology and hearing aid supplies, accessories and equipment, is pleased to announce an educational collaboration with Erin Miller, Au.D., of the University of Akron during the Winter Semester of 2010. Au.D. students at the University of Akron will take part in a series of 1-hour practical trainings in Oaktree Product's online classroom. These trainings will focus on various areas identified by Dr. Miller as those that may not be covered in necessary detail during traditional Au.D. graduate coursework and/or while acquiring clinical experience during externships. Trainings will be conducted by A.U. Bankaitis, Ph.D., Vice President of Oaktree, an audiologist whose background includes clinical, research and teaching experience.

Dr. Miller, clinical preceptor for doctoral students and Coordinator of the Hearing Aid Dispensary at the University of Akron, states, "We're excited to be working with Dr. Bankaitis and Oaktree Products to supplement our students' educational experience, by providing them with further information about the tools and resources available to them as audiologists in the areas of infection control, otoscopy, cerumen management and hearing assistance technology. In a busy clinical setting focused on patient care, there isn't always time to look at the broader scope of products and resources available for all patients, including those patients you may not see every day. We're grateful that Oaktree Products is providing us this opportunity."

Dr. Bankaitis, Vice President of Oaktree stated, "We are looking forward to working with Au.D. students at the University of Akron to provide training in best practices and evidenced-based methods in cerumen management, infection control and a host of other topics. These online courses are a convenient and interactive way to make additional training available to students. This series of courses designed to supplement Dr. Miller's curriculum will be appropriate to Au.D. students in other programs as well, and our goal is make them widely available in the future."
