The AudiologyOnline 2009 NIHL series features renowned faculty discussing the latest research on NIHL and clinical considerations for its prevention and treatment, and builds upon the success of last year's NIHL series that featured Dr. Fligor along with Drs. Deanna Meinke, Laurie Wells, Marshall Chasin, Rick Neitzel, Tom Thunder, and Michael Stewart.
Dr. Fligor is Director of Diagnostic Audiology, Children's Hospital Boston, and Instructor in Otology and Laryngology, Harvard Medical School. His research on potential for NIHL from using portable media players with headphones has received considerable popular media attention, including being spoofed on Late Night with David Letterman in 2005. He designed the AudiologyOnline 2009 NIHL seminar series with a focus on musicians, students of music, music consumers and audio professionals, to assist audiologists, other hearing care professionals and hearing conservationists in meeting the unique clinical needs of this population. In addition, Robert Dobie, MD, a leading expert in the field of hearing loss medical-legal issues and epidemiology, will discuss these issues as they relate to NIHL.
