NIDCD Research Training and Career Development Opportunities for Audiologists

Share:

Over the past several years, the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) of the National Institutes of Health has outreached to the audiology community, with the goal of facilitating the emergence of a new generation of audiologist-investigators. Daniel A. Sklare, Ph.D., Research Training Officer of the NIDCD, reports that the Institute is receiving increasing numbers of serious inquiries from new and budding audiologist-investigators, both Au.D.- and Ph.D.-trained individuals who wish to compete for NIDCD support to develop a career trajectory in auditory patient-oriented research. On June 3, 2008, a Notice was issued in the NIH GUIDE to inform the audiology community of opportunities for research training and career development support through the NIDCD:

NIDCD Research Training and Career Development Opportunities for Audiologists (06/03/08)

A new feature of NIDCD F30 predoctoral fellowship program is that students enrolled in integrated AuD/PhD programs of study are now eligible for up to six years of support over the clinical and research phases of their dual-degree doctoral program. The F30 fellowship program was heretofore reserved for MD/PhD students.

Audiologists and audiology students interested in research training and career development programs available to them through the NIDCD should contact Dr. Sklare at (301) 496-1804 or sklared@nidcd.nih.gov.
