Ottawa, ON - On November 19, 2007, the Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (CASLPA) awarded a five-year accreditation to The Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre under the Canadian Accreditation of Service Program (CASP).
This program promotes excellence in the delivery of speech-language pathology and audiology services through adherence to national standards and a voluntary process of self-assessment and peer review. The CASP accreditation, a quality assurance/quality management program, is a means to recognize excellence in service.
Staff in Communication Disorders at The Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre provide comprehensive assessment, intervention and follow-up of communication and swallowing disorders in collaboration with and appropriate to the needs of each patient. Service is provided to adults on an in-patient, out-patient or outreach (telehealth) basis. The primary populations served are those with acquired brain injury, progressive neurological disease, cerebral palsy and stuttering. (See Rehabilitation Centre).
Speech-language pathology and audiology provide service across inpatients and many clinics and programs. The staff work on multidisciplinary teams and are deployed according to the identified clinical needs across these areas. Speech-language pathology and audiology also participate in clinical research and in clinical teaching.
