Somerset, NJ October 3, 2005 -- Oticon, Inc. and Auricle Ink Publishers announce the release of a Spanish language abridged edition of The Consumer Handbook on Hearing Loss & Hearing Aids: A Bridge to Healing (Richard E. Carmen, Au.D., Editor). The new 100-page Spanish edition, developed exclusively for Oticon, is a complete five-chapter excerpt from the unabridged Consumer Handbook, a practical guide for people with hearing loss who seek positive change for themselves and their loved ones. The informative, easy-to-read abridgement addresses the whole person, not merely one aspect of coping with hearing loss.

Currently, Oticon supplies hearing care professionals with an exclusive English language abridgement of The Consumer Handbook free of charge as part of each high end digital product order. Hearing care practitioners can also request a free Spanish language abridgement with individual premium digital orders. The abridgements are not available for sale by the publisher or Oticon.

"The English abridged edition of Dr. Carmen's excellent book has become part of our educational model for practitioners, enabling them to provide their patients with practical information about living and coping with hearing loss. With the Spanish edition, we will be able to expand access to this excellent resource to more patients than ever before, "says Oticon President Peer Lauritsen.
