The AG Bell Academy for Listening and Spoken Language is thrilled to announce an important development in its Listening and Spoken Language Specialist (LSLS®) certification process. The Academy is expanding test taking access to candidates who qualify for the LSLS certification examination by offering the exam in an online format to be available in over 700 testing locations across the U.S. and worldwide.
“This significant milestone in the history of the AG Bell Academy will expand access to the LSLS exam, thereby increasing opportunity for qualified applicants to pursue certification. It is our hope that this expanded access will provide greater opportunities for professionals to become certified, and help families and children with hearing loss everywhere achieve their dreams of opening up a world of communication," said Teri Ouellette, M.S. Ed., LSLS Cert AVEd, president of the AG Bell Academy.
The online exam format marks a partnership between the AG Bell Academy and a new test vendor, Kryterion Global Testing Solutions, which will make the test available worldwide at 700 test center locations in 100 countries beginning in October of 2016.
Applicants will also have the opportunity to take the test at a convenient time and location and will be able to receive their test results just seven business days following the exam date.
The expansion to online access to the LSLS certification exam marks a dramatic departure from the traditional “paper and pencil” format that was previously offered at limited times and locations.
The AG Bell Academy anticipates that this effort could significantly increase the number of certified LSLS professionals serving children who are deaf and hard of hearing and their families around the world.
