New Jersey Academy of Audiology’s Fifth Annual Meeting To Focus on Pediatric Audiology

Event Being Held Friday, October 18, 2013, at Montclair State University.

Montclair, NJ, September 16 – The New Jersey Academy of Audiology’s (NJAA) fifth annual meeting, entitled “Current Issues in Pediatric Audiology,” will provide in-depth discussions on patient-focused pediatric testing protocols for evaluating this diverse segment of patients, announced Janet Koehnke, Ph.D., president of NJAA.

Featured speakers for the event, being held Friday, October 18, 2013, at Montclair State University, will include:

  • Allan Diefendorf, Ph.D., professor in the Department of   Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, Indiana University, and Faculty at Purdue University
  • Ellen Hansen, MA, Director of Educational and Pediatric Audiology, Summit Speech School in Summit, NJ, and Member of NJ Ad-hoc Committee on the Education of Hearing-Impaired Children
  • Anne Michelle Puglisi, Au.D., Staff Audiologist, The Hearing Center, Clark, NJ, and Facilitator of Speech-Reading  Assistance Group, Westfield, NJ
  • Therese Sheehan, Coordinator for Program Development and Statewide Professional Development Activities, State of NJ

“The speakers in our conference will explore best practices in pediatric testing protocols, the value of thorough case histories and parental involvement, tools for verifying amplification to maximize patient benefit, as well as educational options counseling techniques available for children with hearing loss,” said Dr. Koehnke.  “In addition, participants will have a great opportunity to meet with exhibitors who are both manufacturers and stakeholders in pediatric audiology.
