On June 17, 2005, Nevada's Governor signed AB 580 into law. Under this law, an annual salary supplement of 5 percent will be added to the salary of speech-language pathologists working in the schools. SLPs must be licensed and have the certificate of clinical competence in Speech-language Pathology to receive the supplement.

Arkansas and Indiana have also enacted supplements in 2005. When funded, the Arkansas supplement will provide a $5,000 annual salary supplement for licensed, full-time speech-language pathologists in the schools with their Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA. In Indiana, the following three requirements must be met before being eligible to receive a supplement from a local district: (1) be a licensed speech-language pathologist or audiologist working in an educational setting; (2) hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence (or its equivalent from a nationally recognized association) for at least three consecutive years; and (3) have experience equivalent to the requirements for a teacher seeking certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS). Those meeting these requirements are considered to have the equivalent of and are entitled to the same benefits available to those with a NBPTS certification.
