A meeting of the National Association of Future Doctors of Audiology (NAFDA) board of directors was generously hosted by the Academy of Dispensing Audiologists (ADA) during their national convention in Tucson, Arizona. This meeting fused and energized the board of directors to move forward with several new projects. Among these projects to be spearheaded by the board is the creation of a student initiated research journal known as the NAFDA-J.
Many Au.D. programs across the country have a research component as part of the curriculum. As a result, a large portion of students interested in clinical practice are also gaining experience in the research domain. The NAFDA-J is designed to showcase these efforts in a journal format. We at NAFDA feel that is important to encourage and support the advancement of the profession through scientific investigation. It our hope that the NAFDA-J will give Au.D. students an outlet for the review of their research projects.
The complete process to submit research for review is included on the NAFDA website at www.nafda.org under the Resource section titled "Research Database". NAFDA Is currently accepting submissions for review. Research submissions should be either an extensive literature review or a presentation of new data obtained through experimentation. We request that any article submitted be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from a faculty member at the institution where the research was produced. Following submission, the research will be reviewed by both peers and professionals. We feel that this experience will greatly benefit and aid in the development of Au.D. students.
The National Association of Future Doctors of Audiology is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which recognizes and encourages academic excellence and growth of Audiology as a doctoral level profession.
