In With The New - Live CEUs
Happy New Year and I hope your holidays were joyful! We are kicking off the year with some great new CEU offerings. As we have hundreds of courses to choose from, I wanted to highlight a few of our regular offerings as well as some special events here, so you can begin planning your CEUs for 2010.
Live Expert eSeminars (every Wednesday & select Fridays 12pm - 1pm EST)
This year, our very popular AudiologyOnline Live Expert eSeminars are back - most Wednesdays from 12pm - 1pm Eastern/9am - 10am Pacific, as well as select Fridays at the same time! All are CE eligible. They are easy to access as they are "Same Bat Time, Same Bat Channel" each week. Here are some exciting upcoming eSeminars:
Unique Fitting Applications for Unique Hearing Losses: Brian Taylor, Au.D. from Unitron and Steve Huart, Au.D. from Cochlear Americas have collaborated on a Live Expert eSeminar Series for four consecutive Fridays beginning on January, 15, 2010. This series will focus on special fitting considerations for adults with unique hearing losses including Bimodal, CROS, bone-anchored hearing aids, and others. Please join us!
Vanderbilt Audiology's Journal Club Unplugged: Guest Editor and host Gus Mueller, Ph.D. has enlisted his noted colleagues from Vanderbilt University's Audiology program, to review pertinent journal articles and help us sort through some of the literature. The Vandy Journal Club will take place on the first Wednesday of every other month throughout the year beginning in February. Each session will feature a Vandy faculty member discussing and dissecting recent audiology literature. Expect some fun as an added bonus!
Virtual Conferences (Monday - Friday, 12pm - 1pm EST/9am - 10am Pacific)
Our Virtual Conferences provide comprehensive coverage of a topic over the course of a single week, with daily live seminars Monday-Friday from 12pm - 1pm EST/9am -10am Pacific. Each Virtual Conference is planned by a special Guest Editor who is a leading expert in the topic area.
Our first Virtual Conference for 2010 - Audiologic Rehabilitation - will happen the week of February 8 - February 12. Guest Editor Robert Sweetow, Ph.D., has invited renowned conference faculty Donna Wayner, Ph.D., Gabrielle Saunders, Ph.D., Joseph Montano, Ed.D., Donna Geffner, Ph.D. and Theresa Chisholm, Ph.D. to cover various aspects of audiologic rehabilitation (AR) throughout the week, with a different seminar each day at 12pm EST/9am Pac. Why is AR important? Well, according to Academy of Rehabilitative Audiology, it's important for better patient outcomes, reduced return rates, greater patient self-management and empowerment, and improved patient quality of life, just to name a few reasons. Please join us for this incredible educational opportunity, and look for more info on future Virtual Conferences happening later in the year.
Is That All You Got?
Browse our library, choose a company or topic area, and enjoy additional live, recorded, and text courses - and remember, courses are free to view and you can earn unlimited CEUs with our CEU Total Access Program. As Scott Sims, Au.D., recently told us, "I love your offerings. When I look at them I feel like a child in a toy store....such wonderful topics and neat ways to increase my knowledge. I really enjoy learning and your site is a convenient way to increase my skills."
Out With the Old
Speaking of old, not as in years but as in "longstanding, experienced" you may be wondering where our old friend, President and Editor-in-Chief Paul Dybala, is these days. Well, he is here busy working by the light of the new Leg Lamp that Santa brought him. Expect him back for next month's AO Monthly.
Please be sure to check out the current edition of Around The Web for some fun & interesting news stories about audiology, hearing loss and hearing aids. Thanks for reading!
Best regards,
Carolyn M. Smaka, Au.D.
Managing Editor
P.S. - Thanks to Brian Taylor & Steve Huart for their clever course title that I "borrowed" for the subject of this enewsletter - register here for their upcoming course!
