Happy HallowTurkeymasYear!
Well hello there! Seems like I was wearing my Halloween costume the other day, when I was invited to eat some turkey and then put up my Christmas tree, but now there are fewer and fewer shopping days left before I have to ring in the new year! I hope your holiday season is going well, seems like mine is going by at light speed, so I will make this email quick!
Recovering Sound
We have two feature articles this month that relate to nonlinear frequency compression. The first is, Nonlinear Frequency Compression for Mild Loss. Michael Boretski from Phonak and Andrea Kegel from University Hospital Zurich's show data that demonstrate that this technology may be applicable for a wider range of hearing loss than what was thought possible. The second is, Modified Verification Approaches for Frequency Lowering Devices. Our friends from the north do more than sip Tim Hortons, they like to VERIFY hearing aid fittings. Danielle Glista and Susan Scollie propose a protocol for the the verification of frequency lowering hearing aids. Take a read. BTW - my best time is 26:42 seconds - beat THAT Susan Scollie!
Planning Ahead
Over the past year, how many of you watched the value of your 401ks look like the hearing losses that we are trying to help with nonlinear frequency compression? Hopefully, your portfolio has recovered some, but I think now we all know what a precipitous loss feels like! Take a read of Planning Ahead - Retirement Benefits for an Uncertain Future by Granville Brady and Ralph Braskett. They talk about Social Security, 401ks and other options we should be looking at for retirement.
