It’s Oscar time, and I’m old enough to remember the days when the winners were announced as “And the winner is...”. Nowadays, “The Oscar goes to...” is the acceptable way to grant the award. I guess if you’re nominated as best actor, even if you don’t win, you can’t really be considered a loser, right?
If we were granting awards at AO, we’d be plenty busy this month. Our Oscars would go something like this...
Best February 2013 20Q
And the winner is....Dr. Yu-Hsiang Wu! for his article 20Q: Gaining New Insights about Directional Hearing Aid Performance
Congratulations to Dr. Wu on a great 20Q CEU article, detailing research on directional microphone hearing aid technology, much of which has come out of the esteemed lab at the University of Iowa. I especially liked the way he explained some of the reasons why our patients may not always be wow-ed in the real world by the directional performance we verify in our offices.
Best Virtual Conference 2013
And the winner is....Audiology Grand Rounds at Henry Ford Hospital!
One of the participants of the conference last week put it this way: “These courses were probably the most instructive courses I've taken from any source. No exaggeration.” So there you have it! If you missed the live webinars, the recordings are a must-view and available at www.audiologyonline.com/grandrounds This conference also wins Best Cinematography thanks to AudiologyOnline Video Production Manager, Lucas Butchart. The live video of the staff and students during the conference made us feel like we were all part of the group’s dynamic staffings and brought a whole new level of interactivity to our webinars.
Best Courses to Read on Your Mobile Device
And the winner is...text courses! As you may have noticed, many of our courses are now available as text courses (over 200, in fact). They’re great to read on your laptop, tablet or mobile device, or to print out and take with you to read at your convenience. The latest text course is Dr. Don Schum’s, Providing Structure to the Subjective Hearing Aid Evaluation. Check it out.
