The Minnesota Academy of Audiology will be holding its Annual Winter Conference on February 27-28th, 2009 at the Sheraton Minneapolis South in Bloomington, MN. This year's theme is "Best Practices" and will host a variety of innovative courses to enhance the practice of Audiology in many ways.
For the first time, the MAA Winter Conference will offer two ABA Tier 1 courses on Ethics and Coding & Reimbursement! Need ABA recertification? Gloria Garner, Au.D., Robert Margolis, Ph.D. and Aparna Rao, Ph.D., all of whom are on the AAA Ethics Committee, will present the Tier 1 Ethics course. Always a highly requested topic, the Coding & Reimbursement Tier 1 course will be presented by Paul Pessis, Au.D., a Past President of AAA and current member of the AAA C&R Committee.
In addition to these much anticipated Tier 1 courses, the conference will feature a broad range of topics such as cochlear implant candidacy, pre- and post-implant speech perception testing, music-induced hearing loss risk and prevention strategies, and best practices in the hearing health care profession. MAA is honored to have Emily Farmer, Au.D., and René Gifford, Ph.D., presenting the cochlear implant topics. Brian Fligor, Sc.D., will provide his expertise in music-induced hearing loss and Barry Freeman, Ph.D., will discuss best practices and future insights for hearing healthcare professionals. The conference represents a combined total of 12 CE contact hours (1.2 AAA CEUs), including 0.6 Tier 1 hours!
An extensive list of both national and local exhibitors will be featured in the exhibit hall. Social events, including a Friday evening reception and silent auction to raise scholarship money for students with hearing loss, are also planned.
