AG Bell has a rich, 50-year history of recognizing individuals and organizations that have made the world a better place for children and adults with hearing loss. Meet the distinguished 2012 AG Bell award recipients through this video that was shown at the AG Bell 2012 Opening General Session:
- Award of Distinction was bestowed to Sen. Olympia Snowe for her longstanding support of hearing loss issues, including the Hearing Aid Tax Credit and the reauthorization of the landmark Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Act of 2010.
- Volta Award was presented to BEGINNINGS For Parents of Children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in North Carolina for their notable contributions in the area of public awareness, public policy and research.
- Honors of the Association was given to Dr. Karen Youdelman for her dedication in advancing listening and spoken language through her long and varied career and leadership in serving AG Bell at the state and national levels.
