The American Cochlear Implant Alliance is a not-for-profit membership organization created with the purpose of eliminating barriers to cochlear implantation. Our mission is to advance access to the gift of hearing provided by cochlear implantation through research, advocacy and awareness.

WHAT:          
May is Better Hearing and Speech Month. The following materials are intended as resources to improve public awareness about cochlear implants.

Steps to a Cochlear Implant (www.acialliance.org/page/CICareProcess): this step-by-step guide walks potential patients and their families through the process of receiving a cochlear implant.

Insurance (https://www.acialliance.org/page/Insurance): guides to health insurance discuss the types of insurance and coverage available for cochlear implantation, including options for people under age 65 who don’t have health insurance coverage.

Pediatric Habilitation following Cochlear Implantation (www.acialliance.org/?page=ACITherapyStatement): explores appropriate speech/language habilitation services for children following cochlear implantation. This document is helpful in explaining the need for appropriate habilitation for children post CI. A recommended habilitation standard, based upon published studies, is provided.

Research Findings - Proceedings summarizing clinical research presented at ACI Alliance conferences explores a range of topics including medical, surgical, audiological, educational, (re)habilitation, quality of life, cost effectiveness and other aspects of cochlear implantation. These include:
