There are many exciting things on AudiologyOnline this month, but two in particular that I want to tell you about!
20Q: Listening Effort - We Know It’s a Problem, But How do You Measure It?
The first is a new 20Q CEU article by Dr. Erin Picou from Vanderbilt University on listening effort. We know that our patients with hearing loss report feeling “drained” and “exhausted” from working to listen all day, even with well-fitted amplification. In this article, Dr. Picou provides a great overview of some of the work she and her colleagues have done in this area, and gives us a glimpse into some new research tools to help measure listening effort. Like all 20Q articles, it’s an engaging read, and as I’ve said before, there is just no better way I know to learn and earn CEUs.
Contemporary Issues in Clinical Audiology: From Diagnosis to Rehabilitation, Presented in Partnership with Rush University
In August, we’re honored to partner with the esteemed audiology faculty at Rush University for a webinar series. There are five live webinars in the series on a variety of topics that are very relevant to audiology clinical practice today, and they’ll also be recorded for viewing at your convenience. Speaking of listening effort, I think you’ll agree that with with these leading presenters, our listening effort will be low, and the returns to our clinical practice will be high! Thank you to Dr. Dianne Meyer and all of the presenters for the time and expertise they have devoted to this outstanding continuing education program. Bring your own Chicago pizza and enjoy!
Industry Updates
Thank you to our corporate partners who have taken the time for an AudiologyOnline interview, including SeboTek, Hansaton, Phonak, ReSound, and Starkey. These interviews are designed to provide you with updates on the latest products and initiatives from these companies, in an easy-to-read, conversational format. We hope you find them informative!
As always, thanks for reading. As we’re deep in editorial planning for 2014, we’d love your input for what you’d like to see next year on AudiologyOnline - please contact me at anytime at editor@audiologyonline.com.
