(Mclean, VA) - The American Academy of Audiology is pleased to announce that Jodi Chappell has joined The Academy staff as the Director of Health Care Policy. In this pivotal position, Ms. Chappell will help develop the Academy's Health Care Policy, Government Relations initiatives and advocate for Medicare and Medicaid policies that strengthen the role of audiologists in the delivery of quality health care.
With a strong background in health care policy, Ms. Chappell brings 7 years of related experience to her role at The Academy. Prior to coming on board at the American Academy of Audiology, Ms. Chappell served as Manager of Congressional and Regulatory Affairs at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. There she lobbied Congress on Medicare and research issues. Prior to that, she served as Administrator of Government Affairs with the Health Care Practice Group of Smith, Bucklin and Associates providing strategic counseling on comprehensive health care public policy services for several health provider organizations.
As Director of Health Care Policy, Ms. Chappell will provide analysis of health policy/legislation, collaborate with leadership to develop position statement, comments, and testimony on relevant policy issues, and further educate the membership on reimbursement and practice management policies.

Ms. Chappell began her career in the Ohio legislature working for three State Representatives as a legislative assistant covering health and education issues. Her professional pursuits broadened when she moved to the Washington area to work for the Communications and Legislative Support Directorate of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs. Ms. Chappell received her Bachelors Degree in Political Science at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She serves on the Board of Directors for Women in Government Relations, a professional organization in the Washington lobbying community.
