Interton, the fastest growing hearing aid manufacturer, and Sonovation, the first company to develop a frequency compression hearing instrument and ear-level FM wireless hearing systems, announced today a new business relationship. As part of a strategic alliance, Interton has acquired an interest in Sonovation's parent company AVR Communications, Ltd.
Today's announcement reinforces the dedication of both Interton and Sonovation to provide innovative technologies and high value services to the hearing industry.
"We are very excited by this new venture," said Stephan Sagolla, Interton's President and CEO. "While the hearing industry was generally stagnate, we have been growing steadily over the last few years. Now, to fuel our future growth, Interton must strengthen its position as a provider of advanced hearing technology. Sonovation has always been in the forefront of R&D, leading in DSP and wireless technologies years ahead of the market. In the USA, Sonovation's products have gained acceptance in Pediatric Audiology. Now Sonovation's technologies are appealing also to the industry's mainstream and with our quality manufacturing, innovative hardware design and world wide distribution, we are in a position to offer cutting edge technologies in a broad product line."
"Interton and Sonovation have great synergy," said Barak Dar, Sonovation's CEO. "We have a track record of innovation and engineering breakthroughs but as a small company we have always struggled with product packaging, marketing and international distribution. Interton is a perfect partner. We found Interton to be an open-minded organization that is willing to implement novel ideas yet has the maturity and experience required for the service intensive hearing industry. This partnership produced immediate results. Interton's sleek looking, European designed Nano instruments are based on an open platform DSP, which enable us to run our proprietary Digital Frequency Compression and directional microphone algorithms. Sonovation is now offering the Nano Xp series featuring the most advanced hearing technology in a high quality package. "
Both companies also announced future focus on wireless technology for the hearing impaired. Interton's President and CEO, Stephan Sagolla was nominated to the Board of Director's of AVR Communications Ltd. and Sonovation, Inc. where he will lead company to fast growth and international presence.
"We are surrounded by small portable devices such as PDAs and cell phones and everything is now wireless. There is no reason why we cannot bring some of these benefits to the hearing impaired," said Stephan Sagolla. Dar stated, "We developed the first ear-level wireless system 'Extend-Ear' over 12 years ago and we were probably too early for the market. Now with Interton, I feel confident that together we will offer very exciting products that will better the lives of people with hearing loss."
