Sadly, we must report the sudden passing of Dr. George S. Osborne, Dean of the School of Audiology at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, on June 14, 2007. Dr. Osborne was a well-respected leader within the audiology community, and his vision and personal determination helped direct the ongoing, professional development of audiology education. May 18, 2007 marked the graduation date of PCO's first residential audiology class. It was through Dr. Osborne's tenacious efforts that this historic graduation took place.He will be remembered by students and friends for his knowledge, wisdom, unselfish leadership and great humor.
For decades, Dr. Osborne was a pivotal figure in the advancement of hearing science. He was educated at mid-western universities, earning a Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University and a D.D.S. from the University of Illinois. As Dean of the School of Audiology at PCO, Dr. Osborne has been at the forefront of advances in the education of audiology students.
During his long, prestigious career, he was Founder and Past President of the Pennsylvania Academy of Audiology, Co-Founder of The Audiology Foundation of America, Co-Founder of the American Academy of Audiology and Co-Founder and Director of the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education. His participation in these professional organizations advanced the science and study of audiology around the world.

This week PCO received several requests for a blog where friends,
students and colleagues could share thoughts and memories of Dr. Osborne
with one another. In response, a blog has been created and can be
