CHICAGO (September 12, 2008) - Reprising its role as a premier state meeting in the country, the 2009 Illinois Academy of Audiology 16th Annual Convention will be held at the Drake Hotel Chicago beginning Wednesday, January 28th and ending late afternoon on Friday, January 30, 2009. Pre convention classes available on Wednesday morning will include manufacturer's training seminars and a Preceptor Development session. Official Convention activities will kick off at 1:00 p.m. when the Manufacturer/Supplier MarketPlace opens and technical sessions begin.

"Our program is in its final stages of development and is once again a veritable "who's who" of the best Audiology has to offer", explained Christine Lomey Ulinski, Au.D., Co-Vice President of Education. "Sessions will focus on topics that can be implemented immediately into your practice including, new in 2009 forums to stimulate discussion on topics that affect all of us as audiologists such as ethics, balancing family and practice, pediatrics, women and leadership, issues in private practice, and the future of audiology". Ulinski expanded that there will be presentations focusing on amplification, neurodiagnostics, tinnitus, implantable devices, coding, vestibular studies, pediatric diagnostics, FM technology, educational audiology, auditory processing, evidence based practice, ethics and pharmacology. "We strive to provide an educational experience that can rival any national meeting" Ulinski said.

"The 2009 Convention will also feature expanded and enhanced opportunities for our manufacturer and supplier partners", added Peter Sotiropoulos, Au.D., Co-Vice President of Education. "We will provide more room for networking with attendees, seating for the numerous food and beverage functions and adding some much requested face time during the events that are held in the marketplace, by redesigning the registration and exhibit area". Other enhancements include providing full convention badges to facilitate those exhibitors in need of CEUs and offering limited badge sharing should staff need to rotate.

The Illinois Academy of Audiology has produced a premier state meeting for Audiologists in the midwest since 1993, bringing nationally known leaders in our profession together for technical sessions, hands on workshops and panel discussions.
