LIVONIA, MI – February 9, 2022 – The International Hearing Society (IHS) announced today that IHS and NBC-HIS Executive Director Kathleen Mennillo, MBA, has decided to step down. Mennillo devoted her professional life at IHS to the advancement of the hearing aid specialist profession and worked with the IHS Executive Committee and Board of Governors to usher in the ‘new IHS.’ This included many advancements and initiatives on behalf of IHS members and the clients they serve. Mennillo joined IHS as Education Manager in 2009 and became the Executive Director in May of 2010.
IHS President Annette Cross, BC-HIS, said of Mennillo’s departure, “We announce Kathleen’s resignation with both sadness and gratitude for all that she has accomplished for the Society. She will be missed. The IHS Board of Governors and I sincerely thank her for her contributions and leadership in her time with IHS. We wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors.”
Cross continued, “I am pleased to announce that the Board has elevated Alissa Parady to serve as Interim IHS Executive Director. Alissa has the full support of the Board, and we are confident that our highly qualified staff will make sure that our members continue to receive the superior support and services that they have become accustomed to receiving during this transition.”
Effective February 2, 2022, Alissa Parady began serving as Interim IHS Executive Director. Parady joined IHS in 2011 as Manager of Government Affairs and rose to Director of Government and Chapter Affairs. During her time in that role, she successfully navigated the passage of two federal bills into law, expanded the Government Affairs department, regularly represented IHS and its members in international and federal initiatives and with industry partners, and enhanced engagement with IHS chapters in support of their legislative and regulatory activities on behalf of the profession.
Parady expressed, “I am beyond honored that the IHS Board of Governors has selected me for this incredibly important role. I look forward to connecting with IHS members and am committed to a productive transition and bright future for IHS and NBC-HIS. The talent, knowledge, and commitment of IHS staff, volunteers, and the Board, make me confident that we can continue to move this Society forward in a manner that helps our members assist more people achieve improved hearing—which is the driving force within our Society. I am so fortunate to have worked with Kathleen and I, along with the entire Society, am grateful for her contributions to IHS and NBC-HIS. I join the Board, and IHS staff, volunteers and membership in wishing her all the joy and success in her future.”
