Ida Institute Celebrates World Hearing Day

Share:

With an estimated 360 million people living with disabling hearing loss, hearing care is a public health issue that deserves priority status. To mark the 2017 World Hearing Day on March 3rd, the Ida Institute is launching a social media campaign designed to raise awareness of hearing loss. The campaign is based on three short videos linking to a webpage where people can test their hearing in just two minutes using a validated online hearing test.

World Hearing Day is an annual advocacy event, celebrated every year by the World Health Organization. The theme for this year’s World Hearing Day - ‘Action for hearing loss – make a sound investment’ – is a reminder of the impact that hearing loss can have on the individual and on society as a whole.

“World Hearing Day is an important occasion to remember the fact that hearing health is about more than just how well a person can hear. Hearing loss can affect a person’s physical and mental health, the ability to earn and provide for themselves, as well as their social involvement. Our campaign is a call for people to take action on their hearing loss and motivate them to seek help,” says Lise Lotte Bundesen, Managing Director of the Ida Institute.
