Patient motivation is critical for implementing the recommendations made by the audiologist. However, many practitioners find it difficult to determine patients' state of readiness for change and create a dialogue that will encourage and support their motivation.
Ida Institute will address this challenge and other issues related to patient motivation at a special Motivational Engagement Workshop scheduled for Friday, October 28 at the University of South Florida (USF). The interactive workshop, offered in partnership with the Department of Speech, Language and Health Science at USF, will explore motivational engagement and provide an introduction to the Ida Institute Learning Modules 1 and 2. The one-day workshop will engage participants in a unique collaborative inquiry process with a goal of providing practical, actionable knowledge and tools to facilitate patient-centered hearing care.
Topics explored will include:
- The Patient journey in which participants develop a new perspective for taking a case history
- The Lines, the Box and the Circle tools to help uncover patients' motivations and prepare them for change relating to their hearing health
- Ida Institute Basics, a discussion of adult learning principles as part of the rehabilitation process
