ICS Medical, a leading manufacturer of diagnostic systems for otoneurologic testing, is providing the educational support for a course entitled, "Evaluation and Management of Dizziness." Presented by the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, the course will be held on October 11 and 12, 2002 at the Embassy Suites Lakefront Hotel in Chicago. The course is designed for otolaryngologists and neurologists, as well as other healthcare professionals such as audiologists, physical therapists and physicians in related specialties.
Leading clinicians from across North America, led by course director Stephen P. Cass, M.D., M.P.H., associate professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, have been invited to discuss and defend their methods for evaluating and managing dizziness in an attempt to reach some consensus on best practices. Day one of the two-day course will focus on evaluation, while day two will focus on management. Each of the nine speakers will make a presentation, which will be followed by an open-forum discussion.
Agenda issues include the role of the primary care physician; diagnosis by a neurotologist and a neurologist; the role of audiovestibular tests in diagnosis; management by the primary care physician; a neurologist and neurotologist; management by a physical therapist and the management of psychological and psychiatric aspects of dizziness. Attendees who complete the two-day course are eligible for continuing education credits.
