The Alliance For Workplace Excellence Names ASHA A Winner In All Four Award Categories.

(Rockville, MD - April 15, 2013)  The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) has been honored with the Workplace Excellence Seal of Approval, the Health & Wellness Seal of Approval, the AWE EcoLeadership and Diversity Champion Awards for 2013 by the Alliance for Workplace Excellence (AWE).

AWE award winning companies from across the nation will be honored during the Alliance's 14th Annual Award Luncheon at noon on Wednesday, May 15, at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. More than 500 attendees are expected.

The Alliance for Workplace Excellence is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping companies become great places to work by supporting workplaces that benefit employees, communities and the environment.

"Receiving all four AWE awards is a distinct honor. It's validation of ASHA's steadfast commitment to creating an exceptional work environment for our talented staff," ASHA's Chief Executive Officer Arlene A. Pietranton, PhD, CAE says.

The Workplace Excellence Seal of Approval Award highlights an outstanding commitment to overall workplace quality. Companies are evaluated on programs in communication, diversity, employee growth, life-work balance and more.

The Health and Wellness Seal of Approval Award is awarded to companies that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to employee health and wellness—and have led the way by developing innovative programs.

The EcoLeadership Award honors companies that recognize the importance of environmental sustainability by demonstrating commitment to conservation of energy resources, energy-efficient building operations, and more. ASHA was the first nonprofit association in Maryland to be recognized with a Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified green building designation.

The Diversity Champion Award goes to employers committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce. These champions recognize the value of diversity in every aspect of the workplace.
