The Hearing Industries Association's (HIA) Hearing on the Hill will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 in the Cannon Caucus Room in the Cannon House Office Building. Over a dozen HIA companies and several allied hearing health organizations will be on Capitol Hill to showcase hearing health and hearing technologies.
Representative Jim Ryun (R-KS) and Senator Norm Coleman (R-MN) will be co-hosting this year's HOTH and will be honored with HIA's "Representative of the Year" and "Senator of the Year" Awards. Both Representative Ryun and Senator Coleman have shown an outstanding commitment to hearing health the past year. Both will attend Hearing on the Hill to discuss the importance of hearing health and discuss how a hearing aid tax credit will help Americans to purchase hearing aids.
Representative Ryun is the author of H.R. 414, the "Hearing Aid Assistance Tax Credit Act", which would give a $500 per hearing aid tax credit to those 18 and younger and those 55 and older. Senator Coleman is expected to reintroduce identical Senate companion legislation later this week.
