Hearing First Celebrates Dr. Terry Zwolan, Director of Audiology, Receiving the American Cochlear Implant (ACI) Alliance Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr. Zwolan Received Recognition at the ACI Alliance’s Symposium, CI2022 Emerging Issues In Cochlear Implantation

WASHINGTON, D.C., May. 19, 2022 –  Dr. Teresa “Terry” Zwolan, Ph.D., CCC-A, Director of Audiology at Hearing First — a nonprofit dedicated to providing support for families seeking a Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) outcomes for children with hearing loss and the professionals who serve them  — has been recognized by American Cochlear Implant (ACI) Alliance with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions and impact in the field of cochlear implantation. 

With over 30 years of hearing healthcare experience, Dr. Terry Zwolan is a published researcher and highly respected hearing health industry leader. Prior to joining Hearing First, Dr. Zwolan was a professor, Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery and the Director of the Cochlear Implant Program at the University of Michigan. In her current role, Dr. Zowlan oversees audiology initiatives and offerings, including free learning experiences for professionals, at Hearing First. 

“Dr. Zwolan’s extensive leadership and research efforts have dramatically impacted CI candidacy, protocols, reimbursement, and clinic efficiencies to improve access to cochlear implants for children and adults,” said Dr. Teresa Caraway, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, LSLS Cert. The Lifetime Achievement award recognizes the contributions over the whole of a career and for the work and accomplishments of the individual being recognized. Each year the ACI Alliance honors a person whose life work has steadfastly promoted the values and ideals that guide and inspire us and our mission as an organization.
