Three more Representatives co-sponsored H.R. 414 in early July, bringing the total number of formal tax credit supporters in the House to 67. New co-sponsors include Rep. Bob Filner (D-CA); Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI) and Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA.) Rep. Filner's district includes the areas west and south of San Diego. Rep. Lofgren's district includes Santa Clara in the San Francisco metropolitan area. Rep. Kind's district includes Eau Claire.
In the Senate, Herb Kohl (D-WI) and Senator Daniel Inouye (D-HI) added their support to the tax credit by co-sponsoring S. 1060. There are now 11 Senate tax credit co-sponsors. Senator Kohl is the ranking minority member on the Senate Committee on Aging, and Senator Inouye is a member of the Congressional Hearing Health Caucus. HIA is continuing to meet with Senate Aging Committee staff members to solicit their active support.
