Lions Clubs throughout Washington State and Northern Idaho will hold their annual Golden Ear Days campaign for lifelong hearing health on October 14th and 15th, 2005. All contributions collected will support the Lions Hearing Aid Bank and other hearing programs of the Northwest Lions Foundation for Sight & Hearing. Since 1984, Lions Clubs in Washington State and Northern Idaho have provided hearing aids and other assistance to help deaf and hard-of-hearing children and adults in the Northwest regain their self-reliance. On both days of the 2005 campaign, Lions Clubs volunteers stationed at busy pedestrian locations will give out Golden Ear Days lapel stickers and share information about Lions hearing programs.
They will also ask for contributions, every dime of which will be used to help individuals with hearing loss in local communities, or on Lions hearing loss intervention programs. Lions clubs ask for community support during Golden Ear Days because their hearing mission is a big one: hearing loss in the United States affects more people than heart disease, cancer, tuberculosis, and kidney disease combined. One in every 10 people is affected to some degree.
One hundred percent of contributions collected during Golden Ear Days go to support these Northwest Lions Foundation hearing programs: the Lions Hearing Aid Bank, the AUDIENT hearing care alliance, the Lions Health Screening Unit, the Lions Patient Care Program, and Lions Special Project Grants.
