Today is International Course Formats Day, a day when audiologists and educational providers around the world celebrate all the many formats that courses are offered in for continuing education. There are fireworks, parades, cupcakes, and...
Kidding aside, at AudiologyOnline every day is course formats day. Our courses are offered in a variety of formats to meet your learning and lifestyle needs.
- Live Webinars: Live webinars are offered on specific dates and times, and enable you to interact with the presenter via a live chat function. You’ll see a PowerPoint, and hear a presenter’s voice or see them on their webcam. The presenter may also use videos, audio files or share his or her computer screen to demonstrate a concept or technique. Browse upcoming live webinars here.
- Recorded Webinars: These courses are recordings of live webinars that you can access at any time, 24/7. Browse recorded webinars here.
- Text Courses: Text courses are transcripts of live webinars, and articles such as our 20Q series. Simply read the course at your convenience, and then take the multiple choice test to earn continuing education credit. Browse text courses here.
- Audio Courses: Audio courses are the audio-only portion of recorded webinars. You can download the slide deck as a PDF, and then listen to the course in one of three ways: play the course on AudiologyOnline, download the MP3, or save the course to iTunes as a podcast. Browse audio courses here.
Not all courses are available in all formats. Use the “Search by Type” filter in our course library to browse courses available in a particular format and to find courses that best suit your needs.
20Q: OAEs - A Sound Clinical Tool
This new text course by Dr. Sumit Dhar of Northwestern University covers the history of OAEs and provides a good high-level overview of their clinical uses. Like all 20Q with Gus Mueller articles, it features an engaging Q & A format. Stay tuned for the August 20Q where Dr. Dhar and Dr. Mueller will dig a little deeper into the clinical details of this great clinical tool.
Noise-induced Hearing Loss - July Live Webinars
Our live webinars in July are part of the 7th annual AudiologyOnline Noise-Induced Hearing Loss webinar series organized by Guest Editor Dr. Brian Fligor. See the full schedule and register here.
Blast Exposure - Recorded Webinars
The June live webinar series featured experts from the Hearing Center of Excellence, Department of Defense and Veterans Administration discussing audiological assessment and treatment considerations for patients who have been exposed to blasts. The series is now available as recorded webinars that you can view at your convenience.
Vanderbilt Hearing Aid Hands-On Workshop
If you fit hearing aids, consider attending this in-person workshop at Vanderbilt University that will provide you with hands-on experience with the latest fitting techniques. It is presented by two of the top leading experts in our field - Todd Ricketts and Gus Mueller. There is no better way to get an unbiased, evidence-based and practical education on modern hearing aid technology to deliver better outcomes for your patients. That was definitely my experience when I attended the workshop many years ago. I also picked up a few dance steps from the locals at Tootsie’s in Nashville where Dr. Mueller took us all after a full day of learning, but that story is for another day.
Thank you!
I wish you a happy and healthy summer! We are beginning to plan our courses for 2015, and I’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to contact me at any time at editor@audiologyonline.com with your questions, comments and suggestions.
As always, thank you for reading.
Cheers,
Carolyn
