Five more Representatives recently co-sponsored H.R. 414, bringing the total number of formal tax credit supporters to 64. New co-sponsors include Rep. Ken Calvert (R-CA); Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA); Rep. Mark Kennedy (R-MN); Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee (D-TX) and Rep. James McGovern (D-MA.)

In the Senate, Conrad Burns (R-MT) agreed to co-sponsor S. 1060 last week bring the Senate co-sponsorship total to 8. Senator Burns is a member of the Senate Committee on Aging. HIA is continuing to meet with Senate Aging Committee staff members to gain their active support.

We continue to receive petitions, which demonstrates to the Congressional Representatives constituent interest in the legislation. The ability to show constituent interest in the hearing aid tax credit remains crucial to gaining co-sponsorship. Please visit the HIA website and DOWNLOAD the petition forms to circulate in your company. Petitions may be posted in a lunch room or anywhere your employees will be able to see them. Constituent involvement greatly assists our efforts in Washington.

Completed petitions can be mailed to:

HIA
515 King Street, Suite 420
Alexandria, VA 22314

While completed petitions are no guarantee of co-sponsorship, it at least brings attention to the tax credit. Please contact Andy Bopp at HIA Headquarters,
(703) 684-5744, if you have any questions.
