Schaumburg, Ill., August 29, 2007 - GN Otometrics, the world leader in hearing and balance diagnostic systems, has launched a new generation of the HI-PRO programming interface. The new version, named HI-PRO USB, is both smaller and a more efficient device compared to its predecessor.
Measuring only 5.39" x 4.49" x 1.46" and with a built-in USB 2.0 connection, the HI-PRO USB is truly compact. The integrated USB means no Serial Converter and fewer cables since the HI-PRO is powered directly through the USB connection. Users will benefit from a slightly faster operation since they are no longer dependent on the speed of the Serial Port.
The development of HI-PRO USB is based on new legislative demands for lead-free production of electronic equipment (RoHS directive 2002/95/EC of the European Parliament), the serial RS232 interface being outdated and a software need to conform to the new Windows Vista™ operation system. In agreement with the leading hearing aid manufacturers, the HI-PRO USB is made to be compatible with these new industry standards.
The HI-PRO USB is fully backwards compatible with the old HI-PRO and can be used with already existing and installed fitting modules. A simple installation makes the HI-PRO USB available for your fitting software. HI-PRO USB is distributed through the existing sales channels.
Copenhagen-based GN Otometrics is the world's leading manufacturer of hearing and balance instruments and software. The company has solutions that range from infant-screening applications and audiologic diagnostics, to balance testing and hearing-aid fitting.
