Industry Leader Driving Network Audiometry as Future of Diagnostics

Schaumberg, Ill., March 28, 2005
- GN Otometrics, the world leader in hearing and balance diagnostic systems, is launching the newest generation of PC-based audiometry, the MADSEN Conera™, at the American Academy of Audiology's (AAA) 17th annual convention and expo, in Washington, D.C. Conera offers its users enhanced reporting features, seamless connectivity, reliability, stability and a sleek, user-friendly design.

Conera was developed to enable network audiometry by providing a level of seamless connectivity that is limited with a stand-alone audiometer. Features include USB connectivity, binaural SPL audiometry, support for digital speech lists, XML data export, the capability of connecting two sets of transducers, tymponometry, and diagnostic audiometry printouts and electronic reports, both of which are configurable. The ability to e-mail clinical reports, in the protected and universal PDF format, facilitates information sharing while moving one step closer to a truly paperless office.

"Network audiometry is key to the natural evolution of PC audiometry and GN Otometrics is leading the way," said Soren Holst, president of GN Otometrics. "The Conera provides hearing professionals with the
security of a stable, reliable and technologically-advanced product, from an industry leader they know and trust, as they embrace the future of diagnostic PC audiometry."

Conera's sleek, smart design allows quick access to hard drive-based digital word lists which accelerates speech audiometry and eliminates the need for noisy, slow CD drives. The automatic switching capability makes plugging and unplugging AC transducers obsolete. XML data export and electronic reports enable hearing professionals to analyze and share data across systems, which are critical for quickly transmitting patient referrals or seeking a second opinion from a colleague. Additionally, the software can operate with or without NOAH.

"The kind of networking we see emerging goes beyond simple file-sharing within an office - something that was revolutionary in this profession just a few years ago," continued Holst. "With Conera, audiologists are able to share information they've collected during the diagnosis easily and quickly with the larger professional world - colleagues, insurance providers, referring physicians. We're ushering in a new era of connectivity."
