AFA donors contributed $55,027 in 2006, earning full matching funds of $50,000 from Starkey Labs. Thanks to all who contributed individual and corporate sponsorships, the AFA was able to award 41 scholarships to outstanding Au.D. students and Au.D.-seeking practitioners in 2006.
The AFA also continued its mission of upgrading professional education by offering travel grants and a mentoring program, white coat ceremony sponsorships , educational conference sessions, and the "Clued into Audiology" student program with a donation of 125 otoscopes from the Hal-Hen division of Widex.
As you are planning your charitable donations this year, please think about supporting the AFA . With your help, we will be able to continue transforming audiology into a healthcare profession with the Au.D., and also look toward enhancing the profession's future within healthcare.
Donations to the 2007 annual campaign are now being accepted via the AFA website. Of particular note, we have several named scholarships in memory of Drs. Leo Doerfler, Ray Kilcoyne and Kenneth Berger that we are currently working to fund. You may also choose to donate in memory of, or in honor of, a patient or loved one. We'll send a note telling the family of your memorial gift, and use your donation to fund student support activities.
