Full Text Speech-Language and Audiology Research Articles Now Available Online for All

The Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (CASLPA) is pleased to launch a new domain for the Canadian Journal of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology (CJSLPA) at www.cjslpa.ca. Incorporating a new portal, available to the public free of charge, CASLPA offers open access to the latest research in the areas of speech, language, hearing, swallowing, balance and other related topics.

Complete issues and individual full-text articles of all CJSLPA issues, past and present, are now available online. Readers and researchers can search by issue, year, author, or keyword and then view, print, download and even share links to articles via email, Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms. The domain is also indexed with Google.

The purpose of CJSLPA is to disseminate contemporary knowledge pertaining to human communication and related disorders. CJSLPA publishes applied and basic research, reports of clinical and laboratory inquiry, as well as educational articles related to normal and disordered speech, language and hearing in all age groups. CASLPA president Gillian Barnes is extremely excited about this development. "CASLPA is proud to be a leader in providing open access to leading edge research conducted by speech-language pathologists and audiologists," says Barnes.

CJSLPA editor Tim Bressman is also pleased with the initiative that "will open new opportunities to grow and develop the reach and visibility of CJSLPA." This evolution beyond the standard print edition will allow greater opportunity for abstracts to be indexed by various databases and ensure full access to all interested clinicians, researchers and consumers within and outside Canada. "With the transition to an electronic publishing format and our new open-access archive, the journal can now move beyond the confines of the bookshelf to the far reaches of the internet," adds Bressmann.

With more than 5,500 members, CASLPA is the only national body that supports and represents the professional needs of speech-language pathologists, audiologists and supportive personnel inclusively within one organization. Through this support, CASLPA champions the needs of people with communications disorders.
