Comprehensive Source For Graduate Students and Practicing Clinicians
Boston, MA - January 29, 2007 - The New Handbook for Auditory Evoked Responses, from Pearson Allyn & Bacon, provides an up-to-date overview of test principles, protocols, and procedures required for clinical application of auditory evoked responses (AERs). It is the only textbook of its kind to present balanced coverage of AERs recorded from the entire auditory system.
AERs are very small electrical signals originating from the brain and recorded from the scalp in response to auditory stimuli such as tones, sounds, etc. Highlights of this new text include a focus on principles common to different AERs, including anatomy and physiology; and illustrations of important concepts, including hundreds of clear drawings to enhance student learning.
Written by James W. Hall III, Clinical Professor and Chief of Audiology in the Department of Communicative Disorders at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Handbook also reviews and relates the literature on AERs to clinical practice, includes guidelines for solving problems commonly encountered in the field, and devotes at least one chapter to each major AER type.
"I can say with no reservations this manuscript is excellent and I am thrilled with the manner Dr. Hall has presented the information," said Steven D. Smith, Auburn University. "The manner in which Dr. Hall discusses and explains the various technical concepts and terms makes reading this textbook extremely easy."
