Is It Really Worth It?
Jill Preminger Ph.D., asks this question in one of our featured articles, Audiologic Rehabilitation with Adults & Significant Others: Is it Really Worth It?. Of course, the answer is "Yes!" Dr. Preminger also presents some data to prove it and provides a helpful overview and list of resources for setting up a program in your practice. That said, it is also "worth it" to read our two other featured articles on AudiologyOnline. They are, Cost-Effective Hearing Health Care Services in Long-Term Care Facilities by Dr. Debra Busacco;Factors in the Perception of Environmental Sounds by Patients with Cochlear Implants by Valeriy Shafiro and his colleagues from Rush University Medical Center and Veterans Affairs of Northern California.
Miss USA, "Mr Canada" & Grace
Our Managing Editor, Dr. Carolyn Smaka has some great interviews that were recently posted. One was with Shawnae Jebbia, Miss USA 1998 on encouraging others to seek early treatment for hearing loss. Also, I may have overstated myself by referring to Dr. Don Hayes as "Mr Canada", but it seemed to work with the segue from Miss USA. Regardless, I can attest that Don is a pretty nice guy and smart to boot, his interview covers among other things, a neat iPhone application that screens for hearing loss. Finally, an interview with Jeanine Gleba, who by the way is Grace's mom, goes into detail on Grace's Law - a New Jersey law that mandates partial hearing aid insurance coverage for children.
