ESCO/AFA Support Au.D. Student Education

Lafayette, IN -Texas audiologist Kenneth Martin, Jr. has won the first of four 2007 Audiology Foundation of America (AFA) postcard scholarships to pursue Au.D. distance education. ESCO, a company that specializes in protection and financing plans for hearing aids, sponsored the postcard and Martin's $1,000 scholarship.

Martin is the lead audiologist at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, TX, where he manages the newborn hearing screening program and provides care in the outpatient audiology clinic. He will pursue Au.D. education at the Arizona School of Health Sciences.

"I've decided to pursue my Au.D. because I have a lasting interest in audiology and want to learn as much as possible to provide a higher quality of service to my patients," said Martin.

The AFA is a non-profit foundation founded in 1989 to lead audiology's transition to a doctoring profession with the Au.D. as its unique designator. Scholarship programs such as these help further its commitment to fostering the education and training of audiologists to meet the needs of those with impaired hearing.
