Innovator in Battery Technology Introduces Solution for Cochlear Implant Patients to Keep Going, Keep Hearing
St. Louis, April 5, 2006 - For years, cochlear implant patients have had limited choices when it comes to the type of batteries used to power their implants. Now, Energizer introduces another option that provides dependable, long-lasting power for cochlear implants. Called Energizer® Cochlear, the product is a specially-formulated series of AC675 batteries that gives consumers the freedom to keep hearing -- and keep going.
For individuals with severe to profound hearing loss, cochlear implants are often the only alternative to help correct hearing loss, since the implant's technology can bypass the damaged part of the ear and send digital sound waves directly to the auditory nerve. As a result, implants require significantly more power -- three batteries every 2-3 days -- and Energizer Cochlear meets these dramatically-increased power requirements.
"Our company is committed to advancing hearing health with new technologies that make life easier, so we're thrilled to offer cochlear implant patients a dependable option when it comes to their hearing," said Anne Bannister, Director of Marketing for Energizer Specialty Batteries.
Energizer's new product introduction coincides with the battery-maker's presence at the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) conference in Minneapolis, April 5-8, 2006. Audiologists and hearing specialists can learn more about the batteries and how to make this new option available for their patients.
Energizer Cochlear batteries will also be offered to consumers to purchase through selected online retailers, starting early this summer. The batteries will be available in bulk packs of 10 cards (60 batteries) at competitive price points.
