Stäfa, Switzerland, April 2007 - The newly developed and improved pediatric fitting rational DSL v5 is now available in the newest release of the Phonak Fitting Guideline iPFG1.7.
DSL was originally developed to meet the special hearing needs of infants and children with hearing-impairment. The new DSL v5 not only offers significant improvements in supporting pediatric fittings but also extends the benefits of DSL to adult fittings too. Key innovations include compatibility with Auditory Brain Stem Response (ABR) measurements, updates to age related Real Ear to Coupler Difference (RECD) values, different targets for listening in quiet and noise and much more.
The Phonak implementation of DSL v5 was accomplished in close cooperation with the DSL experts at the University of Western Ontario (UWO), Canada. UWO Professor Richard Seewald confirms: "We have thoroughly tested and evaluated the Phonak iPFG implementation of DSL v5, and found it to be in full compliance with our requirements."
The Phonak implementation in iPFG1.7 enables fitters to use DSL v5 with all Phonak hearing instruments. Advanced technology, at all price points, and in a wide variety of models can
thus be chosen without limitation.
