Somerset, NJ August 9, 2005 - Oticon, Inc. today announced the appointment of Douglas L. Beck, Au.D. as Director of Professional Relations for the company's U.S. operations. In his new position, Beck will oversee services related to the Internet, websites and e-communication, online professional and consumer education and pediatric assessment, fitting and evidence-based outcomes.
"As an audiologist and a communicator, Doug has worked with major national professional organizations, colleges and universities and has helped hearing aid manufacturers market their products to professional and consumer audiences, " stated Oticon President Peer Lauritsen. "His experience and knowledge will enable us to significantly strengthen and expand the services we provide to our hearing care professionals and students."
Prior to joining Oticon, Beck was Editor-In-Chief and President of www.audiologyonline.com, www.speechpathology.com and www.healthyhearing.com He brings over 21 years experience to his new position, including work in audiology research and clinical practice. Beck began his career at the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles and served as Director of Audiology at Saint Louis University. He earned his master's at the State University of New York at Buffalo and his doctorate from the University of Florida at Gainesville. He has authored hundreds of professional articles and text chapters and edited numerous articles for professional journals.
