Telesales might not come to mind as the obvious way to sell hearing aids, but for Digital Hearing UK Ltd, this method has proved to be a success. The company, founded recently by Jim Eley and Russell Borland in Hamilton, has had to triple their staff to cope with the demand for their services. Russell explains; 'It may actually be easier for a person with hearing difficulties to talk over the phone because background noise is minimized with the phone handpiece being next to the ear and therefore there is minimum loss of speech intelligibility.'
He continues, 'Thanks to digital technology the hearing aids we can provide can operate on up to four different frequency channels, allowing the patient to have a hearing system programmed to their individual requirements.'
Russell and Jim are qualified audiologists and travel all over the country to visit their clients to allow them to have their hearing tested in the privacy of their own home.
