Dennis P. Driscoll, P.E., to be Recognized at the Upcoming American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) Conference

Dennis P. Driscoll, P.E., former National Hearing Conservation Association (NHCA) President, will be recognized at the upcoming American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) Conference for work in noise control and hearing conservation.

Denver, CO (July 15, 2013) — Dennis P. Driscoll, P.E., a renowned noise exposure expert and Past President of the NHCA, will be recognized for his contributions to noise control and hearing conservation at the AIHA Fall Conference, being held September 28 through October 2 in Miami, Fla. Dennis will receive the 2013Henry F. Smyth, Jr. Award, an honor bestowed annually by the Academy of Industrial Hygiene (AIH) on an industrial hygienist who has recognized the needs of the IH profession and contributed to the improvement of the public’s welfare. Dennis joins many past luminaries in the field of industrial hygiene, including some of the founders of the field.

Dennis served as the President of NHCA from1996 – 1997, in addition to being active on various committees of NHCA and being a regular presenter at various NHCA conferences over the years. Dennis received the Outstanding Lecture Award at the 1999 NHCA Conference for his workshop, ” Noise Control Survey Procedures.”

Dennis received the NHCA’s Michael Beall Threadgill  Award in 2000. This award, first presented in 1986 to Alan Feldman, was established to recognize outstanding leadership and service to NHCA over a sustained period of time. It is presented no more frequently than annually at the discretion of the NHCA Nominations Committee.

Dennis, President and Principal Consultant of Associates in Acoustics, Inc., in Evergreen, Colo., began his professional career in 1980 after earning a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State University in Raleigh. During his career to date, Dennis has published, presented, and invented, focusing on preventing occupational hearing loss or ameliorating its effects on the worker. His electronic tools, references, and calculators have helped professionals in hearing loss prevention find the most costâ effective and sustainable solutions to prevent occupational hearing loss.

NHCA applauds Dennis’s receipt of the 2013Henry F. Smyth, Jr. Award from the AIH as it recognizes his contributions to the field of occupational hearing loss prevention.
