Minneapolis - Starkey Laboratories announces availability of the new DaVinci PxP power BTE. DaVinci combines a patient-friendly design with Starkey's new Precision Extreme Power™ (PxP) matrix and Precision Directional Imaging™ (PDI) technology to make it the world's most comprehensive digital, directional power BTE.

DaVinci began in an effort to enhance both form and function in the power BTE market. Charles Graves, DaVinci Project Manager, said, "This is not your typical BTE instrument; besides utilizing digital and directional technologies, DaVinci employs a new switch, designed for comfort, which controls on, off, four channels and three memory settings at a single location. By reducing the number of controls, the instrument is uncluttered, which also makes the switch and volume controls easier to operate."

A new contemporary case with an innovative multifunction switch offers patients a comfortable and easy-to-use instrument. DaVinci is available in a variety of exciting new colors, including transparent and purple ice.

The new PxP 140/80 matrix combined with an extended bandwidth of 80-4400 Hz provides the industry's most powerful response and improves audibility in all frequencies. Standard PDI yields superior directivity levels and an improved DAI system combined with Starkey's Lexis system helps maximize hearing performance in noisy environments.

DaVinci also incorporates a new tamper-proof battery door lock with right/left indicators. Optional enhancements include a volume-control switch cover and a Low Frequency Roll Off algorithm to allow gain in the directional mode to match the omni directional mode in the low frequencies to maximize audibility in the frequency region where the patient has the best hearing.

Other standard features include flexible compression architecture programmable as WDRC, OCL or Peak Clipping; Expansion to reduces low level microphone and environmental noises; Feedback Management, which reduces or eliminates feedback at use settings and prevents feedback with increases in volume; A Resonant Peak Control, which offers low frequency boost to fit corner audiogram configurations; Low Cut for easy frequency shaping in a variety of audiometric configurations; and it contains an extremely powerful (135 dB) telecoil.

Graves said, "Simply put, there's nothing comparable to DaVinci PxP's unique blend of power, directionality and functionality." DaVinci is the only instrument to combine digital and directional technology to offer industry-high levels of output and gain with a low frequency bandwidth of 80 Hz.
