The Colorado Neurological Institute (CNI) Center for Hearing is now accepting applications for its second annual Cochlear Kids Camp. The camp, which is being held September 12-15, 2002 in Winter Park, Colorado, offers children with cochlear implants the opportunity to interact with one another and their families while celebrating the successes they have achieved since the implantation of their devices.
"Last year, the camp hosted 26 cochlear implant families and involved more than 100 participants. This year, we are doubling the number of rooms available to allow even greater participation," said Sue Goodin, Development Director, The Colorado Neurological Institute Center for Hearing.
Camp activities, which focus on building friendships and self-esteem, allowing children to learn from their successes, include rope courses, barbeques, wagon rides and campfires. Educational sessions for parents exploring advancements in cochlear implant technology are also offered.
The Cochlear Kids Camp is sponsored in part by Cochlear Americas and other private benefactors. Thanks to their generosity, the camp is being offered at no cost to participants.
