DENVER - June 2003 - Cochlear, the market leader in cochlear implant technology, recently announced the availability of Listen, Learn and Talk, a new auditory habilitation program for infants and children under four years of age. Cochlear's Listen, Learn and Talk habilitation package is a practical "how to" auditory learning program designed for babies and infants diagnosed with a hearing loss from birth to school age. It is a valuable resource for parents and professionals based on the principles of early listening and spoken language development.
"Cochlear prides itself on its commitment to helping Cochlear Nucleus® recipients achieve successful outcomes with their implants," said Jim Miller, president, Cochlear Americas. "Habilitation is a critical factor in achieving success with the implant and developing speech and language skills. The Listen, Learn and Talk program provides our recipients with the tools needed to attain this goal."
About Listen, Learn and Talk
The Listen, Learn and Talk package is comprised of a book entitled Listen, Learn and Talk and three videos, Babies Babble, Toddlers Talk and Children Chatter. The Listen, Learn and Talk book outlines the theory and strategies used in hearing development and addresses age-specific habilitation approaches. The videos explore age specific segments ranging from birth to four and contain footage from actual habilitation sessions. The videos also illustrate how the different habilitation methods can be integrated into everyday routines.
