Cochlear Americas, in conjunction with the University of Miami (Drs Thomas Balkany and David Fabry), is hosting a workshop entitled "The Convergence of CI & HA Technology" on January 14 - 15, 2009 at the newly renovated Eden Roc Beach Resort & Spa in Miami Beach, FL. This two day workshop will focus on the theme of convergence of technology in the cochlear implant and hearing aid realms and will cover topics such as: signal processing;rehabilitation;verifying performance/metrics;bilateral/bimodal issues;bone conduction aids;and, the ultimate convergence, combined/hybrid acoustic and electric stimulation. The goal of the workshop is to provide leadership in the industry in order to define the next two - three year outlook for research and technology development in cochlear implants and hearing aids. The intended audience for the meeting is audiologists, surgeons, researchers, engineers and other hearing professionals. The conference will feature leading researchers and presenters from the United States and Canada, and is planning to offer continuing education units (CEUs).
