Coach Don Shula and HEARx Team Up to Fight Breast Cancer

Share:
West Palm Beach, Florida, October 25, 2007 -- Coach Don Shula and HEARx (AMEX: EAR) are getting into the swing of Breast Cancer Awareness Month at the Comcast Don Shula Celebrity Classic Golf Tournament on October 25th. HEARx is sponsoring the Awards Dinner following the tournament in support of The Don Shula Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.

Now in its sixth year, the tournament is a favorite among both sponsors and Dolphin Hall of Famers, who are paired with each foursome in the tournament. This is the first year HEARx has sponsored the Shula Celebrity Classic. The Awards Dinner is the culmination of two days of event activities and features a live auction as well as recognition for players who receive prizes for coming closest to the pin, making the longest drive, or getting a hole-in-one.

Coach Shula is the spokesperson for HEARx and being a part of the tournament was a way of giving back to Coach. HEARx wanted to thank him for his efforts in raising awareness about the importance of hearing health care through the "Just Find Out" campaign. The funds raised at the tournament will go toward finding a cure for breast cancer.

Comcast, the title sponsor of the event, will have television production crews present at the tournament. The cable company plans to produce a post-event wrap up show that will air on Comcast's Community Channel and will also create a TV promotion for next year's tournament. Other sponsors include the presenting sponsors, Humana and BankUnited, as well as supporting sponsors Sharp Business Systems, NutriSystem and Jack Daniel's. Shula's Celebrity Classic is held every year in October at Shula's Golf Club in Miami Lakes.

About The Don Shula Foundation

There are two million cases of women with cancer, and research suggests that approximately 1,000 men will also be diagnosed. The exact causes of breast cancer are not known but several risk factors have been linked to the disease such as gender, age, genetics, a family history of breast cancer, earlier radiation treatment and race. The Don Shula Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure.
