CLARKE (Northampton, Massachuesttes) to Host Workshop for Audiologists

A hands-on workshop for audiologists titled, "The Desired Sensation Level Method for Hearing Instrument Selection and Fitting Infants and Young Children," will be held May 12th and 13th 2005, from 8:30-4:00 p.m. at CLARKE's Round Hill Road, Northampton campus.

Presenters Richard Seewald, Ph.D., and Shane Moodie, M.Cl.Sc. will highlight variables considered in hearing assessment, and hearing aid selection, fitting, verification, and validation for the pediatric population. Recent developments, such as the use of Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) data and appropriate hearing instrument verification procedures will be discussed.

The cost of the workshop is $200 and includes; instructional session, continental breakfast, lunch, and handout materials. Hearing aids, analyzers and laptops will be provided during the workshop. Attendees are eligible to receive 1.1 ASHA and 1.1 AAA continuing education units.

Dr. Seewald holds a Canada Research Chair in Childhood Hearing at the National Centre for Audiology in Ontario, Canada. For the past 20 years Dr. Seeward's work has been focused on issues pertaining to amplification fitting in infants and young children and is known internationally for his work in developing the Desired Sensation Level (DSL) Method.

Mr. Moodie is a Clinical Supervisor in the Andy Leeper Speech and Hearing Clinic at The University of Western Ontario and has assisted in the development in the DSL Method.
