Phonak is excited to announce the 2nd Hearing Care for Adults conference, taking place 16-18 November in Chicago.

Population aging implies that a large proportion of our clients are getting older and older. This is also reflected in our daily practice of fitting hearing instruments. It is the goal of this conference to examine challenges of aging and to provide solutions specially suited to the elderly.

Louise Hickson (AUS), the chair of this conference, has invited Larry Humes (USA), Sophia Kramer (NL), Christopher Lind (AUS), Kathy Pichora-Fuller (CA) and Ulrike Lemke (CH) to work closely together as a steering committee. Over the past several months they have identified the topics and speakers critical to making this conference a success. An impressive panel of international experts have immediately confirmed their participation in this exciting event: Harvey B. Abrams (USA), Terry Chisholm (CA), Adrian Davis (UK), Judy Dubno (USA), Robert D. Frisina (USA), Jean-Pierre Gagné (CA), Ferdinando Grandori (IT), Karen Helfer (USA), Mary Beth Jennings (CA), Patricia B. Kricos (USA), Stefan Launer (CH), J. B. Orange (CA), Marilyn Reed (CA), Jerker Ronnberg (SE), Ellen B. Ryan (CA), Gurjit Singh (CA), Mitchell S. Sommers (USA), Pamela Souza (USA), Robert W. Sweetow (USA) and Andi Vonlanthen (CH).

Conference sessions will include the latest developments in:

  • The Big Picture of Changes with Age
  • Cognition and Aging
  • Communication and Aging
  • Amplification for Older Adults
  • Early Intervention and Prevention
  • Effects of Aging on Speech Perception
  • Special Needs of Older Adults
  • Outcome Measurement
What's more on the program:

  • A podium discussion will address the question: "Are current audiological approaches for older people meeting their needs?"
  • A clinician's forum will focus on "Issues in audiological rehabilitation for older people - practical challenges they face and how they overcome them"
  • A poster session will provide the opportunity to discuss latest research results
Each day will be packed with opportunities to ask questions, debate issues and learn from experts in the field. Continuing Educational Credits (CEU) will be available to conference participants.

Don't miss this important conference!
Early bird registration available until September 15, 2009

We invite and encourage you to actively contribute to this year's conference! A poster session provides an excellent opportunity to present and discuss your latest research results. We are looking for studies that relate to hearing care in the context of aging and especially encourage the presentation of clinical studies.
Poster submission ends August 31, 2009
